WIRES Volunteer Support Manager (VSM) provides assistance to individual members and advice and guidance to branch BMC and Executive office holders.
Typical member matters dealt with by the VSM are complaints regarding other members behaviour or action - which at times can be as serious as an allegation of harassment or bullying, or it can be helping members to resolve issues in regard to their branch such as; claims of lack of information, inconsistency in branch operations and conflict with BMC members.
Typical assistance to Branch Execs or BMCs involves assisting them to secure member co-operation with organisational policy or rules, advising branches in regard to management and resolution of members’ particular grievances or allegations.
The VSM also conducts investigations in cases where all attempts to resolve a matter have been attempted by a branch and failed, or when requested by the Board or CEO to look into, report on and make recommendations in regard to a matter.
In all cases a key part of the VSM role is identifying and providing information that in addition to resolving individual matters, helps build member and branch understanding of policy, responsibilities, law, and good governance.
If you or your branch need assistance on a matter of this type first discuss it with your Executive, or an appropriate member of the BMC.
If advice or assistance is still needed, please contact WIRES VSM: vsm@wires.org.au
